Client Testimonials

"Our department was looking for ways to enhance our identity as a team. This need took on added importance when we moved to a new, central location where, for the first time, we would all work in close proximity with one another. Through preliminary discussions and an assessment tool, and using a huge variety of exercises and activities Julie facilitated a series of staff events in which we learned about each other as individuals and as a team. We developed multiple methods for identifying and expressing our current and desired culture.

In addition to her remarkable technical expertise as a facilitator,Julie brought meticulous, extensive preparation to our time together, and led us through a number of activities that gave us insight into the nature of work teams and how we could harness our considerable strengths in a more coordinated and efficient way.

As a result, we have developed a number of new, more participatory ways of building our team. These range from how we are decorating our new work space, to how we create and agree on department processes. We have also acquired a far greater appreciation of the importance of more social, less task-driven interaction in our work place. With Julie’s guidance, we plan to reassess and see how we have progressed, but the department is already feeling like a different and better place."

—Education Director for a large Pacific Northwest Health System

"Julie took the time to develop a relationship with our team and an understanding of where we were as a group before our retreat. In doing so, she established a level of familiarity and trust that allowed us to fully invest in our group work. Thanks to Julie, we have gained a new level of understanding of each other as individuals with shared goals, and a new framework to use in approaching situations within the workplace."

—Melissa Turner, Director, Aurora Medical Services

"Our organization had undergone significant changes in leadership, at the Board and executive level, and with all this change we needed to create a more cohesive, functional team culture. Julie's skills were a perfect fit both because of her coaching background and her expertise in team systems. The results have been even better than we hoped: our Board is now able to communicate openly and functionally, band together to take effective action, and reach consensus in a timely fashion on challenging issues."

—Andrew C. Buelow, Executive Director, Tacoma Symphony Orchestra

"Julie was instrumental in launching LeaderSpring's Executive Coaching Project. When I joined LeaderSpring in 2008, it was clear that she established a strong foundation and all I had to do as the director of programs was to maintain the infrastructure that Julie co-created with our staff. She is an incredible coach and consultant; and well respected among the coaching community. Julie’s work is always relevant and flexible, and I appreciate the warmth and positive energy she brings to every gathering."

—Renato Almanzor, PhD, Director of Programs, LeaderSpring

"Julie is a wonderful and engaging facilitator. She's extremely efficient and trustworthy. Our organization has benefitted from her expertise and experience."

—Cristina Valle, Program & Administrative Associate, California Latinas for Reproductive Justice

"I love working with Julie! She is smart, funny, an excellent facilitator, organized, detail-oriented, and thoughtful (among other things!). Julie has been expertly convening and recruiting coaches to support Fellows in the LeaderSpring fellowship program for the last several years, always with great success. She is an asset to both LeaderSpring and the broader nonprofit community."

—Drew Lewis, Program & Administrative Associate, LeaderSpring

"Julie and Grace consistently provide a safe space for our team's self-reflection, learning, and meaningful action. Their coaching has helped
us become more open and honest in our communication, and much more efficient in decision-making and delegation. As a result, we are better able to lead and to support additional leadership throughout the organization. These changes are critical to our long-term sustainability and mission fulfillment."

—Carole Miller, Chief Learning Officer, Planned Parenthood of the Great Northwest
